X-59 Breaks Sound

NASA's X-59 aircraft has successfully flown faster than the speed of sound for the first time, reaching a top speed of approximately Mach 1.1 (713 mph). The 81-minute flight, piloted by Jim "Clue" Less, took off and landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The X-59 is part of NASA's Quesst mission, which aims to demonstrate quiet supersonic flight and enable commercial supersonic flight over land worldwide. This milestone brings the project one step closer to achieving its goal.
