NASA's HEAT Program Illuminates Sun's Impact

NASA's Heliophysics Education Activation Team (HEAT) is actively engaging students and educators in understanding the Sun's impact on Earth. Through various educational initiatives, HEAT aims to make heliophysics accessible to learners of all ages. The program offers resources such as lesson plans, interactive tools, and real-world data from missions like the Parker Solar Probe and Solar Dynamics Observatory.

HEAT's efforts include the 'My NASA Data' project, which provides classroom resources centered around space weather, allowing students to engage with authentic NASA data. Additionally, the program supports citizen science initiatives, encouraging public participation in solar observations and data collection during events like solar eclipses.

Since 2007, NASA's Living With a Star program and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research have collaborated on the Heliophysics Summer School, fostering cross-disciplinary communication among budding researchers. Through these initiatives, NASA aims to inspire future scientists and enhance public understanding of the Sun's role in our solar system.
