SpaceX Dragon departs ISS with cargo
NASA's SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft is set to depart the International Space Station on June 16, carrying thousands of pounds of cargo, including scientific research samples and hardware. The spacecraft will undock from the station's Harmony module and reenter Earth's atmosphere on June 17, splashing down off the coast of California.
Research returning to Earth includes bioprinted organ and cartilage tissue, data on improving cryogenic fuel storage, and DNA-inspired materials for cancer treatments. The spacecraft will also return with an ocular imaging device, an absorbent bed, and a separator pump from the waste and hygiene compartment.
NASA will provide live coverage of the undocking on its website, NASA.gov, and social media channels. For more information on the International Space Station and its research, visit NASA's website.
