Olympic Games

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, with events spread across 22,000 square kilometers. The games will feature 116 events and over 2,900 athletes. Most venues are existing or temporary facilities, with only one new permanent venue constructed for the games.

Satellite images from NASA's Landsat 8 and 9 show the host cities and venues, including the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena and the Verona Arena. The games will also introduce new events, such as men's and women's ski mountaineering and women's large hill ski jumping.

The Olympic festivities will kick off on February 6 at San Siro Stadium, with performances by renowned artists. The closing ceremonies will take place on February 22 at the Verona Arena, an ancient Roman amphitheater.
