Explore Leo constellation and its celestial delights
Leo is a prominent sight for stargazers in April, with its famous sickle and bright star Regulus. The constellation is home to a great double star and a famous galactic trio, the Leo Triplet. The Leo Triplet consists of three galaxies: M65, M66, and NGC 3628, which are gravitationally bound to one another.
With a small telescope or binoculars, you can spot the double star Algieba, also called Gamma Leonis, in the sickle of Leo. The Leo Triplet can be found below the star Chertan, and with a telescope, you can see all three galaxies at once. April is Citizen Science Month, and there are several Leo-related activities you can participate in, including the Galaxy Zoo project and the Globe at Night project.
