My mother and I were walking westward on SW 68th Street, approaching SW 75th Avenue at about 8:15pm. We kept out eyes on the sky due to the Leonid meteor shower scheduled to happen throughout the week and reaching its peak on the night of the 17th. But in the direction opposite to where the meteors were expected to pass, we noticed to very bright star-like objects moving north-north-west parallel to each other.

I was looking up at the sky from my back-yard and trying to see the stars in the dusky sky in the early evening and noticed a few dim stars. I live in a small town and the street lights hamper seeing the full night sky, but the major stars are visible.

I went outside to make sure things were ok and to feed our cats, but I walked around to the north side of our house and noticed a yellow-white light off in the distance to the north, just above the horizon. It appeared to zig zag back and forth, then disappear in one spot, and then reappear in a different spot. About 5 minutes into this event, the object reappeared just above the treeline, this time instead of being a yellow-white color, it was red, it had no blinking lights at all, and since it was pretty far away, I couldn’t hear any sound (except the sound of cars since we live next to highway 41), then it started to slowly descend, then I lost it behind the trees.

Was leaving a small neighborhood on the north side of Hugo Oklahoma. The area is open with no trees. Heading south I saw a very bright object to the west-south-west, about 20 degrees above the horizon.

I was walking outside and happen to notice a very bright star like object in the due eastern sky low on the horizon just over top of a ridge over the tree tops, it was a good distance away, but the colors flashing made me think it was an aircraft but it was stationary, and I knew it wasn’t a star because no star or planet would be in that location and wasn’t there next night.

My boyfriend and I were sitting in my car facing the west, about 5 miles from Lake Michigan when a bright light caught his eye just above the horizon, to the left of the setting sun.

I work as a security officer a few miles outside of Boonville, IN. While on duty tonight I looked out my passenger side window and noticed a bright light in the sky (to the west).

I answered the door to find someone there who was trying to sell me a new roof. I looked out over his shoulder to the southeast, and there was a swath of light…I told the guy to look at it, and he said “Wow, I guess we should watch the news tonight”. It was shaped somewhat like a paint swath, wider than any contrail I have ever seen.

I was driving to work traveling south on the four lane and observed a “star/planet like” object to the south approximately 30 degrees above the horizon (I had to lean forward a little to observe the object while driving)> At first it appeared to be very far away as a star or planet would be. I say “as a planet would be” because it was as bright as Venus or Jupiter would appear if it was at night – brighter than a star.
